Man arrested for masturbating in front of a maid in Kwekwe

A 35-year-old man from Kwekwe has been slapped with a four-month jail term after he was caught pleasuring himself in broad daylight while staring at a woman sweeping her employer’s yard.

The incident occurred around 7a.m on 16 September 2025, when the woman was carrying out her morning chores.

To her horror, she turned and saw the suspect masturbating in full view, his eyes locked on her. 

Startled and shaken, she dashed into the house and alerted her employer.

Without hesitation, the employer reported the matter to the police. 

The individual was swiftly arrested and charged with public indecency. 

He later appeared before the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court, where he was convicted based on eyewitness testimony and police evidence.

The court handed the offender a four-month custodial sentence. 

However, two months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour, meaning he will serve two 

months effectively.

The sentence was aimed at sending a clear message against acts of sexual misconduct in public spaces.

According to B-Metro, the case has stirred outrage among residents, with many demanding harsher penalties for indecent exposure and similar offences. 

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) also condemned the act, describing it as a violation of public decency and dignity.

“The justice delivery system remains committed to upholding public morality, protecting citizens’ dignity, and ensuring offenders face the full wrath of the law,” said the NPAZ in a statement.
