President Mnangagwa To Deliver State Of The Nation Address On October 28
President Emmerson Mnangagwa is scheduled to officially open the Third Session of the Tenth Parliament and deliver the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
While the address is a customary event, this year’s speech will attract heightened attention as ZANU-PF seeks to expedite constitutional amendments that could potentially extend Mnangagwa’s rule beyond 2028.
According to General Notice 2162 of 2025, issued by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Tariro Gezi, the address will take place at 12 PM during a joint sitting of the Senate and the National Assembly in Harare.
In accordance with Section 140(1) of the Constitution, the President will outline the government’s legislative agenda for the new parliamentary session. This will set the stage for key policy priorities and proposed laws to be discussed in the upcoming months.
Mnangagwa will also provide an update on the country’s political, social, and economic situation, as mandated by Section 140(4) of the Constitution.
