The early morning silence in Epworth was violently broken on Thursday by a man's desperate cries for help. Neighbours, drawn from their homes around 6 AM, were confronted by a scene of pure horror: a local man, Abraham Chirivhayo, 35, was staggering in the yard, clutching a devastating wound to his stomach.
His intestines were protruding. "He was just shouting, 'My father, my father!'" one shaken neighbour recounted.
The Arrest: Wife Detained, Dispute Over Debts Cited
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed it responded to the horrific domestic incident, which occurred on October 23, 2025.
Authorities have arrested the victim's wife, Tafadzwa Mandaza, 31, in connection with the stabbing.
In a statement, the ZRP alleged the attack, which involved a knife, happened "during a dispute over debts to loan sharks".
"I Had to Chase Her Down"
As Mr. Chirivhayo collapsed, neighbours rushed to his aid, desperately trying to cover his grievous injuries with blankets.
In the chaos, the suspect, Ms. Mandaza, allegedly attempted to flee the scene. "She was trying to escape," one young man at the scene stated. "I had to run... to catch her".
Another witness described the victim, even in his critical state, trying to move back toward the house before collapsing completely.
"He Was a Father to This Community"
The incident has sent waves of shock and grief through Epworth, where Mr. Chirivhayo, known affectionately as "Madzibaba," was described as a pillar of the community.
"He was a good person. He was a prophet who helped everyone," one local man said, his voice heavy with emotion. "He was helping with the development of the clinic".
Another woman tearfully agreed: "He was like a father to everyone here. A peaceful man". The young man who apprehended the suspect said the victim was his benefactor. "He helped me personally. This is so painful".
Victim Rushed to Hospital
Police confirmed Mr. Chirivhayo was "referred to a local hospital for medical attention". Witnesses described him as struggling to breathe as he was taken away.
Authorities stated that "more details regarding the complainant’s condition will be released in due course" as the investigation continues. - Zimbo LIVE Harare
