Gokwe woman dupes job seeker US$7,000
GOKWE – A Gokwe woman who defrauded US$7 270 from another woman under the pretext that she could secure employment for her has been jailed an effective four year- six months term.
Tambudzai Sibanda (35) of Mapfungautsi in Gokwe was convicted of two counts of fraud by Gokwe Magistrate Thomas Gurajena. Sibanda will effectively serve four years and six months behind bars.
Magistrate Gurajena also ruled that three more years will be added to Sibanda’s sentence should she fail to reimburse Mirriam Munondo (34) on or before November 30, 2025.
The fraud happened sometime between May 2024- May 2025.
Circumstances are that Sibanda met Munondo and misrepresented that she worked at Delta Beverages and could secure Munondo’s husband a permanent job at Delta Beverages in Gokwe.
Munondo began paying Sibanda to secure the job. Munondo paid a total of US$7 270 by May 2025.
Sibanda, however failed to secure a job and gave Munondo excuses until she decided to file a Police report.
